I loved that the 4th of July was on a Thursday because it just made for a very long weekend holiday of playing and having fun. On the 4th we went paddle boarding and had a blast. The water in the reservoirs this year is a little colder than normal thanks to all the snow this winter and the cool spring so there was a little less jumping in than normal! We borrowed some inflatable kayaks for the kids and they had a blast kayaking and trading off on the paddle boards. It was a great day together. We barbecued for dinner and watched the fireworks...pretty much the all-American way to celebrate.
The next day Jerry, Matt, Kate and I all went for an awesome mountain bike ride together. We took Kate on her hardest ride yet and she did awesome even though she was trashed by the end. That's the best kind of time to spend with our kids! We love it!
After the bike ride we wanted to spend some time doing something Abby and Sara would love so we went to the local Ninja Warrior gym. They were all pretty excited about it and they all did really well.
At first Abby was scared to try these boxes, but she kept doing them little by little until she finally realized she could do them. And then once she got some confidence from that, she realized she could do a lot more at the gym than she thought she could. I was very proud of her for pushing her comfort zone more than I've ever seen her do.
Sara had the most fun trying out the salmon ladder. She worked really hard at it and realized it's much harder than it looks. She gave it a lot of really good efforts.
Kate was so determined to make it up this warped wall. She tried it probably 100 times. She would get close and then not so close and then close again...but she kept on trying. Finally, she made it to the top and we were all shocked and so proud of her. I was so proud of her determination and perseverance. She felt really proud of herself!
These warped walls were a little easier for Matt since he's a little taller. He was pretty good at them. He tried the bigger one but it was still a little out of his reach. He had a ton of fun on all the obstacles. It was a cool place and a great way to spend the afternoon!
